More on Automatic License Plate Recognition in Missouri

Another report adds details about the use of Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) scanning systems in Missouri.

The University of Missouri – Columbia Maneater reports that the Columbia PD notes specifically this system will be looking to identify individuals with outstanding criminal warrants in Missouri.

They also specifically note that the system is connected with a Federal crime database. If you have an old criminal warrant, even decades old, issued in another state, it is entirely possible for that problem to be flagged and for you to be stopped and arrested just for driving down the street in Missouri.

This is just further evidence that the prospect of avoiding past legal problems is becoming more difficult every year. Data never goes away, and always seems to become more accessible.

As we noted before, these systems commonly flag stolen cars, and identify drivers wanted for questioning in criminal cases, or who might be driving while their driver’s license is under suspension.

If you have an open criminal compliant, warrant, or other potential criminal problem, you can’t hide from it anymore.

Getting help to deal with it proactively can often save you from more serious consequences.

It’s always worth getting a free consultation on any criminal legal matter to evaluate your situation and understand your options.
